It's a bird; it's a plane, no... it's robot floor scrubbers!

We sat down with Operations Supervisor Todd Duquette as he explained a little more about our new autonomous helpers.

Two robot floor scrubbers will now be roaming the halls of Middleton High School and one at Kromrey Middle School. This new tool helps free up time for our custodians to aid in more critical tasks. They also hope that this will help ease the strain of the worker shortage that has been felt in school districts across the county.

Don't worry; the robot floor srubbers come in peace! In fact, their safety features are one reason Todd chose that particular model.

The machines will stop if a person or object gets too close. They also have bumpers and sensors in the front, sides, and back. One extra helpful feature Todd added was that if the hose came loose, they will turn off.

Much like a rumba vacuum like you would see at home, the new robots have the entire school mapped out. The only step is for custodians to bring them out and let them roam!

...And that is what is happening at Middleton High School and Kromrey!
