Model UN Students

Over 250 students from throughout the state gathered on Saturday, December 4th for the twelfth annual Madison Area Model United Nations Conference (MADMUN), hosted this year at McFarland HighSchool.

The annual event, established by Middleton High School in 2010, included students from Middleton, McFarland, Monona Grove, Madison West, Baraboo, Oregon, Verona, Lake Mills, Sheboygan, Monroe, and Marquette University High School. Middleton students Charlotte Neumann, Monroe Durand, Livia Machado, Shradha Godishala, and Mason Bauer helped to plan and run this year’s MADMUN conference.

Conference delegates discussed a variety of contemporary and historical issues such as racial and gender inequality, the global education gap, world hunger, human trafficking, and many more. Students also enjoyed hearing keynote speaker Shamshad (Xavier) Dergai discuss his experiences working for the International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) in Afghanistan.

Middleton students Jack Asmus, Collin Monahan, Patrick Monahan, Leah Saleh, Jay Gavin, and Hannah Boisen were each recognized for exceptional individual performance in their respective committees.
