Model UN students on Zoom

Monday, March 15, 2021 - 10:55am

MHS Model United Nations members Charlotte Neumann, Ava Clark, Elinor Kosek, Henry Loop, and Henry Dickinson participated virtually in the Mexico City International Model United Nations Conference (MIMUN) on March 11-14.

The student delegates represented the Russian Federation in the UN Development Programme, Asia Cooperation Dialogue, Security Council, and Russian Cabinet, as well as representing the Times of India in the International Press Delegation. Topics of the conference included environmental sustainability, gender inequality, nuclear proliferation, and the socio-economic consequences of COVID-19, among many others.

MHS students Ava Clark and Charlotte Neumann received awards for their individual performance within their committees. MHS students got the chance to interact and network with students from a variety of international schools. The conference also included a keynote address by Gabriel Labbate, a global team leader in the U.N. Environment Programme.

MHS Model UN will next participate virtually in the Northwestern University Model United Nations Conference (NUMUN) on April 8-11. The club meets every Monday at 4 p.m. in a hybrid format (Room 2108 at MHS and on Zoom). New members are welcome to join at any point during the year.
