The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District has updated its volunteer application process to make it easier and more efficient for community members to become approved volunteers.
All volunteer applications are now processed through our Visitor Aware platform. The updated system streamlines the application and background check process, helping new and returning volunteers receive approval more quickly. Once approved, applications remain valid for one full year from the approval date.
New Training Requirement
Under Wisconsin Act 89, all school volunteers must complete grooming prevention and awareness training before submitting a volunteer application.

How to Become a Volunteer
For security reasons, the volunteer application is not publicly available on the District website.
Receive the application link: School staff will share the link with prospective volunteers when an opportunity arises. If you would like to volunteer, contact your school’s main office for guidance.
Complete the application: Submit the online application, provide the required background check information and verify your training completion.
Complete the background check: A background check runs automatically when the application is submitted. Most applications are approved within minutes, while those requiring additional review are evaluated by District staff.
Receive approval: You will receive an email once your application is approved.
Confirm with staff: Let the staff member leading your volunteer opportunity know that you have been approved.
Our Commitment to Safety
Student and community safety is the District’s highest priority. All volunteers are required to complete a background check before volunteering with students.
A record of conviction does not automatically disqualify an applicant. If a record is flagged, District administration will review the information individually to determine eligibility for volunteer placement.
