18:38 – Pre-Referendum Survey Results Presentation

Representatives from The Donovan Group shared results from MCPASD’s Operational Needs Survey, which was open from May 6–25, 2026.

Community members were invited to complete the survey and provide input on the future of our schools, as MCPASD considers an operational referendum for the November 2026 ballot to help maintain the District’s excellent educational programming amid ongoing inflationary pressures and inadequate state funding.

1,818 respondents completed the survey. More than 88% of all respondents said they strongly agreed/agreed that they are satisfied with MCPASD. More than 78% of all respondents said they strongly agreed/agreed that the District’s financial needs must be addressed now.

66% of all respondents said they would probably support/definitely support a referendum on the November 2026 ballot. Respondents who indicated they would not support an operational referendum in 2026 shared concerns including property tax fatigue as well as the preference for structural or state-level solutions. They also shared a desire for spending reductions, greater fiscal discipline, and greater transparency.

Board members discussed the need for transparency and further communication with the community about the referendum as well as the potential impacts of a “yes” or a “no” vote. The Board will further discuss the survey results before making a decision about putting a referendum question on the November 2026 ballot.

51:01 – Enrollment Update

Assistant Superintendent of Operations Jerrud Rossing shared an update on projected enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year.

Rossing also noted an increase in enrollment at the 4K level. Enrollment is expected to grow at all buildings over the summer and rise to a projected 7,253 students in grades 4K–12 for the 2026–2027 school year.

MCPASD will continue to monitor schools’ enrollment figures throughout the summer.
