19 MHS finalists

Middleton High School is proud to announce that 19 seniors have been named Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognized the following Middleton High School students among nearly 16,000 Finalists nationwide: Eeshan Kathir Anand, Frank Barth, Neil Bhandari, Sarah Blust, Asha Chakravartula, Micah Friedman, Annabel Goldberger, Shivani Haker, Shaila Holland, Kavya Kashyap, Maggie Kirker, Hannah Lee, Michelle Lee, Kriti Mitra, Isaac Nichols, Conner Roth, Nathaniel Straight, Ethan Yang and Iris Zhu.

"All of our National Merit Scholarship Finalists are impressive,” said Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue. "Their strong leadership and commitment to academic excellence inspire their peers. As we get closer to graduation, we look forward to hearing what’s next for each of them in their academic journeys."

To advance to Finalist standing, Semifinalists submitted a detailed application showcasing their academic records, extracurricular activities, leadership experiences, and honors. Typically, about 95% of Semifinalists advance to Finalist level, with approximately half ultimately selected to receive a National Merit Scholarship. Nearly $26 million in scholarship funds will be awarded, with approximately 6,930 scholarships available.

"We are incredibly proud of our seniors’ accomplishments inside and outside of the classroom,” said Middleton High School Principal Bobbie Reinhart. “Throughout their academic journeys, they have made the most of the opportunities available in our District. We’re happy to recognize their hard work and excited to learn more about their post-high school plans.”

Scholarships will be awarded April through July. Students can earn four types of scholarships – including National Merit Scholarships, corporate-sponsored merit scholarships, corporate-sponsored special scholarships, and college-sponsored merit scholarships – ranging in value from $2,500 to $10,000.

Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation conducts this annual academic competition to honor the nation's scholastic talent and encourage students to develop their abilities to the fullest. Learn more here.
