MCPASD hosts an annual retiree dinner to recognize retirees each May, and this year’s honorees include two beloved elementary school principals: Chris Dahlk and Sylla Zarov.

Ahead of their retirements at the end of this school year, we’re paying tribute to the incredible impact they’ve made at their respective schools and in our larger community.

Sauk Trail Kindergarten Teacher Kari Nonn shared the impact Dahlk has made at Sauk Trail Elementary School.

“For 17 remarkable years, Chris Dahlk has been the heartbeat of Sauk Trail,” Nonn said. “She has woven a vibrant culture of caring and collaboration into everything we do. By wholeheartedly embracing diversity, she has ensured that every student and family feels seen, heard, and valued as an essential part of our community. As a lifelong learner, she leads by example, constantly thinking outside the box to find innovative ways to support learners, families, and staff. We celebrate her unwavering commitment and the inclusive legacy she has built, proving that when leadership is rooted in heart, there truly are no limits to what we can achieve together.”

Director of Elementary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment MaryBeth Paulisse described how Zarov has made a difference at Northside Elementary School.

“Sylla has led Northside with unwavering kindness and compassion, always keeping students at the center of every decision,” Zarov said. “Her instructional focus has elevated teaching and learning throughout the school, while her caring nature has made every child, family, and staff member feel valued and supported. She is a true servant leader, and her legacy will continue to inspire us all long after her retirement.”

Both Dahl and Zarov leave behind legacies of inclusion and compassion that will shape students’ learning and growth at their schools for years. Join us in thanking them for their strong leadership and congratulating them on their outstanding careers in education!
