23 students from Middleton High School’s Distributive Education Clubs of America, or DECA, team recently competed at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Fla. Students performed role plays/presentations and took an exam to test their knowledge about marketing-related concepts.

Eight students won medals based on their performance: Parin Gouraram, Micah Hees, Crystal Huang, Srivarenya Jonnalagadda, Chahna Potnuru, Ishika Pulimamidi, Dhrithi Putti and Wilson Tang.

"To have eight students earn medals at ICDC is quite the accomplishment," said DECA Advisor Bob Hutchison.

In addition, six competitors made it into the final round based on their strong performances:

  • Wilson Tang finished in the Top 20 in Personal Financial Literacy.

  • Parin Gouraram and Micah Hees finished in seventh place in Financial Services Team.

  • Srivarenya Jonnalagadda, Chahna Potnuru and Dhrithi Putti finished in fourth place in Start-Up Business Plan.

Each event had 220 individuals or teams competing.

"To have six students place in the Top 20 at ICDC is quite an accomplishment. To have two teams place in the Top 10 made it an ICDC to remember," said Hutchison.
