The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD) is proud to announce that Assistant Athletic Director and Student Activities Coordinator Brad Crandell has been named Athletic Director for Middleton High School, effective July 1, 2025.

Crandell joined MCPASD in 2020 as Dean of Students for Middleton High School, before assuming his current role in 2022. He is known for his deep commitment to students, programs, and the MCPASD school community.

Crandell has worked in public education since 2004. Prior to joining MCPASD, Crandell served in the Verona Area School District for 16 years, where he taught physical education, health, and adapted physical education. He also served as a baseball and football coach, an advisor for clubs, and a mentor for new teachers.

“It’s an honor to build on the momentum that current Athletic Director Jamie Sims has created,” Crandell said. “We’ve worked closely together for years, and his leadership and commitment to our students has made an impact on me and our whole community. I look forward to building on this strong foundation to continue our tradition of excellence.”

Crandell shared what he’s looking forward to in his new role.

“The Athletic Director role provides so many great opportunities to connect with students, staff, families, and community members,” Crandell said. “The Middleton-Cross Plains Area community is our biggest supporter and their passion for athletics and activities is unmatched when looking across our state. Our department will continue our work on focusing on creating significance in order to build success. Building authentic relationships, offering spaces to be challenged, striving to make a positive impact on our community, and celebrating our accomplishments along the way will help make our students the best versions of themselves.”

“Our athletics and activities programs have experienced tremendous growth during Brad’s tenure,” said Middleton High School Associate Principal for Teaching and Learning Bobbie Reinhart. “Brad has strong connections with our students, families, staff and leadership, and I’m thrilled to extend his expertise to the Athletic Director role. He will continue the reputation for excellence that we’re known for with his passion for supporting students on their journey to becoming the best versions of themselves.”

Crandell earned his Master’s of Education from the UW-La Crosse and his bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison.
