Renderings of MHS stadium project

The Middleton High School Otto Breitenbach Football Stadium is getting a facelift!

A few months ago, the District was approached by a group of alumni interested in working with the District to make substantial and much-needed improvements to the stadium complex.

While MCPASD has made significant upgrades to our school buildings and recently built a brand new elementary school, we have not yet honed in on improving our athletics and activities facilities within the District.

The MHS stadium complex facilities have substantially fallen behind our regional counterparts. Our students and community deserve up-to-date facilities within which they can compete and perform in a wide variety of pursuits.

On February 14th, the Board of Education unanimously approved contributing funds to the Otto Breitenbach Football Stadium project during their regular meeting.

In total, the stadium could cost between $8 - 12 million.

MCPASD will give up to $2 million from one-time monies regenerated from the sale of the lots near Pope Farm Elementary. The Middleton-Cross Plains Education Foundation will raise the remaining funds. A generous MHS alumnus also pledged to donate $5 million towards the project.

MCPASD Board President Bob Hesselbein and Area IV Board Member Annette Ashley acknowledged during the meeting that without the $5 million donation, our District would not be able to build a new stadium to this capacity without a referendum.

It’s important to note that it would cost the district $1.5 million to get our existing restrooms at the stadium to ADA compliance, which we need to update regardless. The district will be approving the project in phases as the Education Foundation raises funds.

This partnership with the Education Foundation will support the efforts of the community and the school district in creating a stadium complex that is accessible to all and a centerpiece of athletic and activities performance excellence.

These improvements to Otto Breitenbach will help our District retain and attract families to our community, benefit our students and faculty, and create athletics and activities spaces that match our newly renovated high school campus.
