Three MHS students -- sophomores Shardha Godishala and Keerthi Peddinti and junior Alli Smith -- were recognized by the Wisconsin Affiliate of the National Center for Women in Information Technology.

Godishala and Smith were named Wisconsin Affiliate award winners for Aspirations in Computing, while Peddinti received honorable mention recognition.

"I am very proud of Alli, Keerthi and Shardha,'' MHS computer science teacher Lori Hunt said. "They are all amazing young women who have done so much to inspire others. ... They inspire me every day.''

All three students play significant roles in the non-profit CODE-CS Club, which was started four years ago and aims to get young girls and under-represented minority students, involved in computer science-related fields.
