Middleton High School’s top-ranked Boys and Girls Swim and Dive teams are excited to practice and host meets in the renovated Bob Joers Aquatic Center.

“This summer one of our capital projects was a refresh of our pool, including flooring, tiling, new starting blocks, and paint,” said MCPASD Director of Finance and Operations Erin Wheeler.

The project was funded in part by two generous anonymous donors that helped contribute to the purchase and installation of the pool’s starting blocks.

“Staying up to date with all of the latest technology and information in the growing world of swimming is key for success on both the Boys and Girls Swim and Dive programs,” Middleton High School Boys Varsity Swim Coach Wes Lagerhausen said. “The floor, walls, blocks and bottom of the pool being redone really cleans up the look of the facility. It's brighter which will help keep energy high for our programs during practices and meets.”

Last season, Middleton High School’s Boys Varsity Swim and Dive team won the Division 1 state championship the third consecutive year, and the Girls Varsity Swim and Dive team clinched a Division 1 state title for the fourth consecutive year.

“The biggest thing I enjoy about the renovation is the cohesiveness of the Middleton athletics colors and logos into the pool area,” Lagerhausen said. “It looks professional and it’s an area that represents the school in a similar way to our other facilities we have around campus.”

Lagerhausen said coaches and players are grateful for donors’ support.

“We know renovations do not happen often, so we are happy it was the pool's turn and love the final result,” Lagerhausen said. “I cannot say thank you enough to our donors. I know all of the athletes and patrons that use the blocks will enjoy them for years to come. It is with this support that we are able to continue our growth in and out of the pool.”
