MCPASD Welcomes Two School Resource Officers (SROs)

MCPASD is proud to announce the appointment of two school resource officers (SROs).

Officer Cassidy Ruchti will serve as the SRO for Kromrey Middle School and MCPASD elementary schools, and Officer Jake Ungerer will serve as the second SRO for Middleton High School, working with SRO Kevin Thompson. They’ll start their roles in late August to prepare for the 2025-2026 school year.

Ruchti joined the Middleton Police Department in 2023, following a summer internship with the department in 2021. She began her law enforcement career with the Oregon Police Department, and served as Kromrey Middle School’s SRO in the fall semester of this past school year.

“Having already built relationships with many of the students and staff, I'm truly excited to return to this role,” Ruchti said. “I'm most looking forward to serving as a trusted adult and positive role model for the students. Building meaningful connections and supporting their growth is something I'm very passionate about.”

Ruchti graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with bachelor's degrees in political science and democracy & justice studies, with a focus in criminal justice. She is a certified Stop the Bleed instructor and has completed a variety of law enforcement training, including crisis intervention training.

Ungerer joined the Middleton Police Department in 2019. For the past 2.5 years, Ungerer has been assigned as the community policing officer, primarily responsible for coordinating events and programs like the Citizen Academy, Youth Academy, and National Night Out. Also, he recently completed a six-year military contract as an infantryman in the Wisconsin National Guard with 2-127 Alpha Company.

Ungerer’s volunteer experience includes serving as baseball coach at Belleville High School for two years. He was involved in football, basketball, track and baseball in high school, and he looks forward to supporting Middleton High School’s athletic programs as a volunteer coach.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Carroll University in criminal justice with minors in Spanish and business leadership & management.

“I’m eager to strengthen the partnership between the Middleton Police Department and Middleton High School,” Ungerer said. “I look forward to engaging with students on a daily basis and being a trusted source of support for both students and staff.”

“We are fortunate to have strong partnerships with our local law enforcement agencies to strengthen our efforts to keep our students and schools safe,” said MCPASD Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue. “We work closely with the Middleton and Cross Plains police departments, and we greatly appreciate our SROs’ support in enhancing school safety, building relationships with students, and responding to incidents across our schools.”
