Amazing mentor, outgoing leader, and dear friend. These are just some of the ways that MCPASD Board of Education members described Sheila Hibner during her last meeting as Board President on April 21.
Hibner, a Middleton native, joined the Board in July 2021 and previously served as Board Treasurer before her election as Board President. Nearly four years later, she has made a remarkable impact on students, staff, families, and our entire District community.
“The amount of heart you bring to the Board, the way you connect with people – I really appreciate how much you care and it shows,” Board Treasurer Catherine Kells said to Hibner during the meeting.
Hibner also brought an extensive educational background to the Board of Education. She spent nearly 32 years as a teacher and student services professional at Monona Grove High School before serving as Middleton High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator. Hibner said it was the highlight of her career to serve the MCPASD community.
“I appreciate all of the relationships forged over the past four years,” Hibner said. “Please know that I will always be a champion for our schools.”
The Board also noted how Hibner’s leadership brought members closer together, helped them work more effectively, and made new members feel welcome.
“You brought us together as a Board in a way that I don’t know many other people could have,” said Board Member Marni Ginsberg. “Thank you for all you’ve done.”
“You’ve been such a wonderful Board Member and outstanding Board President,” said Board Vice President Bob Green. “You really do have a gift for bringing people together and finding common ground.”
“It was because of how warm, how outgoing, and how really caring you’ve been about bringing new members onto the Board and making sure this was a positive experience,” said Board Member Jim Coursey. “Thank you so much.”
Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue also shared thanks for Hibner’s teamwork and friendship during their time together in the District.
“I rely heavily on a Board President, and I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for your humor, for your listening ear, for how responsive you are,” said Dr. Monogue. “It has been just a pleasure working alongside you and getting to know you.”
We extend our deepest thanks to Sheila for her years of service to MCPASD, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter of life!
