Many MHS students remember making marble roller coasters in Middle School, but this time they are taking it one step further with a lot more ingenuity!

"Physics is really kind of cyclical," said MHS physics teacher Angie Humphrey, "The things students learned in elementary or middle school are like a staircase. We can revisit projects they have previously done and apply more intense concepts to the same activity."

Rather than piecing together a paper roller coaster, students are exploring all sorts of different materials such as PVC pipes, cardboard, hot glue, etc.

Then comes the real brainwork... calculating the physics of their new roller coaster! A few aspects that students must take into consideration for their designs is friction, gravity, and other measurable information.
