District families of students in the Universal instructional model were informed via email on Friday, Jan. 8 of the cohort assignment for their child or children.

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade in the Universal model were assigned to one of two cohorts. Here is what the schedule will look like once students return to school buildings:

  • Cohort 1: Students attend in-person on Monday and Tuesday and access learning virtually on Wednesday through Friday.
  • Cohort 2: Students attend in-person on Thursday and Friday and access learning virtually on Monday through Wednesday.

Students in the 4K Universal model were also split into two cohorts, morning and afternoon. Students will attend in-person school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Asynchronous (remote learning) instruction will occur on Wednesdays.

  • 4K AM Cohort: 8:50-11:26 a.m.
  • 4K PM Cohort: 12:24-3 p.m.

The School Board has already approved the return of Universal students in PK-4th grade starting on Feb. 1, with kindergarten orientation taking place Jan. 28-29. The School Board plans to vote on Feb. 8 about the return of middle and high school students. The District's targeted date of return for those students is:

  • Grades 5-8: Feb. 22 (5th-grade orientation on Feb. 18-19)
  • Grades 9-12: March 11 (9th-grade orientation on March 4-5)

Here are a few other upcoming key dates:

  • Jan. 19: Second semester begins. Middle and high school students whose families requested to switch instructional models do so starting now.
  • Jan. 19-22: Families learn about model changes and homeroom assignments.
  • Jan. 25-29: Bus routes announced for PK-4th grade.
  • Feb. 1: Instructional model switches occur for elementary students.
  • Feb. 15-19: Bus routes announced for middle school students.
  • March 1-5: Bus routes announced for high school students.

The District had previously announced it would not accept cohort assignment requests and does not plan to make changes to the cohort students were assigned. If you have questions about the timeline or cohort schedule, please contact your child's school office.
