14:30 - Open Enrollment - Policy and Enrollment Review
Assistant Superintendent Jerrud Rossing reviewed the District’s Open Enrollment Policy and provided an update on preliminary enrollment projections for the 2026–2027 school year. The Board reviewed how space availability is determined each January based on class size guidelines, staffing capacity, enrollment projections, and program needs, in alignment with state law and district policy.
Mr. Rossing also shared current open enrollment trends. As of the 2025–2026 Third Friday Count, the District has 270 open enrolled students and 185 open enrolled-out students, reflecting continued movement both into and out of the District. Students open enroll into the District primarily from neighboring communities such as Madison, Waunakee, and Mount Horeb, while outgoing students most commonly enroll in Madison, Waunakee, and McFarland.
Looking ahead to 2026–2027, preliminary projections indicate approximately 324 new regular education open enrollment seats may be available across grade levels, with no projected additional special education seats.
