The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District is proud to announce that Athletic Director Jamie Sims has been appointed Associate Principal for Teaching and Learning at Middleton High School, effective July 1, 2025.

Sims has more than 20 years of experience in public education. He joined MCPASD in 2020 as the District’s Athletic Director. Under his leadership, Middleton High School has earned 14 state championships and 38 conference championships.

Prior to joining MCPASD, he was the principal of Black Hawk Middle School in the Madison Metropolitan School District for four years. He also spent seven years as adjunct instructor at Edgewood College teaching a course in the Master’s of Education Program on educational leadership.

Sims’ career in education began in his home state of Georgia, where he was a teacher, coach, mentor and bus driver. He taught health and physical education at Madison County High School in addition to serving as Head Track and Field Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator for the Varsity Football Team. He also taught at Hull Sanford Elementary School.

“We’re excited to welcome Jamie to the principal team,” said current Associate Principal for Teaching and Learning Bobbie Reinhart. “Jamie has made strong contributions as our Athletic Director, and we are confident that he’ll be a valuable addition to our leadership team. His commitment to our students, staff, and the broader Middleton High School community is clear, and we’re thrilled to have him bring that same energy and perspective to this new role.”

Sims’ new role takes effect when Reinhart starts his new role as principal of Middleton High School.

Sims earned his bachelor’s degree from University of West Georgia and a master’s in educational leadership from Edgewood College. He’s currently pursuing his doctorate at Edgewood College.

In addition to his leadership roles at MCPASD, Sims is a highly engaged community leader. He serves on the Board of Directors for 100 Black Men of Madison.

MCPASD congratulates Sims on joining the Middleton High School principal team and looks forward to the impact his leadership, commitment to student success, and dedication to serving underrepresented populations will have throughout the community.
