School-Wide October Monthly Focus
This month, students are growing their ability to be learners at school. They will focus on the following skills:
- Being a listener (eyes watching, ears listening, voice quiet, bodies calm)
- Being assertive and asking for help
- Focusing their attention
Students will also focus on having a 'growth mindset'. They are learning new things every day and mistakes are part of that process!

How You Can Help Make It a Sweet Success!
This amazing event is only possible with your help. There are lots of ways to get involved and make it a treat for our students:
Host a Trunk: Decorate your car trunk and hand out treats to the trick-or-treaters! This is the core of the event, and the more trunks we have, the more fun it is.
Volunteer: Help with setup, directing traffic, or cleanup.
Donate Candy/Treats: We're accepting donations of individually wrapped candy, or small, non-food trinkets (for example, stickers, pencils, etc.).
Donate Funds: Monetary donations help us purchase needed supplies and decorations.
Ready to sign up or want more details?
Click here to download the official Trunk or Treat Sign-Up Form with all the volunteer, donation, and trunk-host information!
We can't wait to see your creative costumes and trunks! Thank you in advance for your support!

The PTO has made some changes to their event schedule. Please update your calendars with the following new dates:
- PTO Sunflower Shuffle. The new date is September 25. (The rain date is September 30.)
- PTO STEAM Fair. The new date is February 10.
- PTO Music Showcase. The new date is April 21.
After recognizing that the original date coincides with Rosh Hashanah, a significant day of observance for many in our community, we've rescheduled the upcoming Sunflower Shuffle Fun Run out of respect for those observing the holiday.
The new date for the Sunflower Shuffle is Thursday September 25, 2025. Times and location remain the same.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we strive to be inclusive and respectful of all members of our community. The new rain date is September 30.

Our school-wide theme for this September is 'Hands That Help'
This month we will learn and focus on how to be a learner in our classroom:
Being a Listener (eyes watching, ears listening, voice quiet, and bodies are calm)
Focusing Attention
Following Directions
Using Self-Talk
Being Assertive.
These skills will help our learners be successful in and outside of the classroom and set up our school year for a great year!

Due to recent changes in student enrollment at Elm Lawn, Northside, and West Middleton elementary schools, we've had to add new class sections to ensure every student gets the support they need.
This means we're delaying the release of elementary school teacher assignments until Friday, August 15.
This extra time will allow us to finalize our new hires and create the most accurate class lists for all students.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to get the school year off to a great start. We're excited to see you all soon!
