More MCPASD students as well as staff will earn A Cardinal’s Journey Awards in the 2026-27 school year, with the call for staff nominations also expanding to families.
Last school year, the Board of Education began recognizing students with the awards for demonstrating a particular element of the District’s future-preparedness framework – the Cardinal Mindset (Curious, Community-Oriented, Self-Aware, and Accountable) and Cardinal Foundations (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, and Adaptability).
In 2025-26, 40 students earned A Cardinal’s Journey Awards, and beginning this school year, the Board will also recognize staff. This is an opportunity to celebrate all the ways that our staff and students are living out A Cardinal’s Journey in the classroom and beyond and inspiring others every day.
The Board will recognize the first group of 2026-27 award recipients during its Oct. 12 meeting for demonstrating the Cardinal Mindset of Curious. Nominations for this group are due by Sunday, Oct. 4.
MCPASD staff members can submit nominations for students as well as staff, while families may only submit nominations for MCPASD staff, not students. Staff and families should check their inbox for a Sept. 15 message about how to submit nominations.
