students hosting a food drive

The message below was emailed to MCPASD families and staff on Aug. 19, 2026.

MCPASD Families and Staff,

I’m emailing to invite you to join our ongoing partnership with WayForward Resources and the MCPASD Education Foundation to support our community’s families in need. In the coming weeks, all MCPASD schools will have donation bins at their respective Back to School nights.

Families are welcome to drop off non-perishable food donations for WayForward Resources and the MCPASD Education Foundation, which supports the Weekend Food Program for MCPASD students in need. Donation bins at each school will include a QR code for families that would like to make a monetary donation to either organization.

We’re coming together to kick off Hunger Action Month, a national campaign held every September to raise awareness and inspire action to end hunger in America. Our goals are to raise awareness about food insecurity locally and to collect as much food as possible. It’s heartbreaking that 17% of children in Dane County are food insecure, including children in our schools.

To support the food drive:

Check out WayForward’s top 10 list and the Weekend Food Program’s top 10 list.

  • Bring non-perishable food items to your student’s Back to School Night.

  • Check your school’s website to find the date for your student’s school.

If your family needs assistance:

Please contact your school’s social worker for support. Also, WayForward offers a food pantry for Dane County residents, where families can shop in person as often as needed. Food pantry hours and location are here.

Thank you for your generosity and our community partners for their continued support of our students and families throughout our community.

With gratitude,

Dr. Dana Monogue
MCPASD Superintendent
