The Middleton-Cross Plains School District is pleased to announce that more than 500 Middleton High School students earned Advanced Placement Scholar recognition during the 2025-26 school year.
The College Board recognized 527 Middleton High School students with AP Scholar designations. Of the 2,059 AP exams given, 86% of students scored 3 or higher.
Middleton High School students earned the following AP Scholar designations:
AP Scholar: 178 students scored 3 or higher on at least three AP exams.
AP Scholar with Honor: 110 students earned an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scored 3 or higher on at least four exams.
AP Scholar with Distinction: 239 students earned an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scored 3 or higher on at least five exams.
“These designations reflect our strong commitment to academic excellence,” said Middleton High School Principal Bobbie Reinhart. “Our students’ success also points to the efforts of our talented educators and staff and supportive families to maintain our tradition of excellence. We are proud of our students and teachers for their strength and leadership in academic achievements.”
Middleton High School offered 23 AP courses, 34 dual-credit courses, 8 honors courses, and innovative Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) courses during the 2025-26 school year.
The District’s commitment to excellence is reflected in additional rankings. Middleton High School was recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and the Wisconsin Advanced Placement Advisory Council with a Level 1 Pacesetter Award. The prestigious honor is part of the 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) Pacesetter Awards, which recognize high-performing AP schools across the state.
In addition, Middleton High School ranked first in Dane County and second in Wisconsin among public, non-charter schools for 2025 ACT composite scores with an average ACT composite score of 24.0 in the 2025-26 school year. Also, Middleton High School was recently recognized as the #1 school in the Madison Metro Area and the 8th best school in Wisconsin in the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools rankings.
Middleton High School also offers strong career and technical education programming as well as award-winning arts programming. Finally, Middleton High School won four team state championships in the 2025-2026 school year – Boys Swim & Dive, Girls Swim & Dive, Boys Golf, and Boys Volleyball – as well as an individual state title in Boys Wrestling.
