The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD) will host a Family and Community Wellness Morning event on Oct. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Kromrey Middle School.

The event features drop-in wellness activities including autumn arts and crafts, apple tasting, an open gym, a scavenger hunt, bubbles and sidewalk chalk, mindfulness spaces, a gratitude tree, plus visits from Middleton Police Department officers and the Middleton Public Library bookmobile. In addition to drop-in sessions, the event includes scheduled sessions for family yoga, guided tours of Pheasant Branch Conservancy, and family Zumba.

The event is free and open to the public but registration is required. Register at https://forms.gle/t2DgxdBaAvYZ4Juq7. On-site registration is also available on Oct. 18.

“We prioritize the health and happiness of our educators to cultivate an environment to engage, empower, and evolve lifelong learners,” said MCPASD Wellness Coordinator Kalise Horst. “We also recognize that regular physical activity, good nutrition, social-emotional support, and mindful practices positively shape our students’ and staff’s health and well-being. We’re excited to extend MCPASD’s approach to wellness throughout our community with this event.”

Summer School and Community Outreach Coordinator Amy Schernecker thanked the community partners supporting the event, including the Friends of the Pheasant Branch Conservancy, Dean Health Care by Medica, Metro Market of Middleton, DashStrom, the Middleton Police Department and the Middleton Public Library. Middleton High School students also will help at the event.

“The extensive work MCPASD already invests into wellness can also benefit our community members,” Schernecker said. “We’re fortunate to be part of a highly engaged community, and our event will make the most of the incredible assets we have from natural resources to supportive business and community partners.”
