We introduce you to West Middleton Principal Deborah "Debbie" Goodfriend-Kennedy, who started this position at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. Her desire to start a career in education began at a young age and stemmed from her mother, a teacher. While Kennedy received her degree in Journalism, her love for kids helped draw her back to education.
Kennedy comes from a larger school district, and one of the top things she loves about MCPASD is the small community feel.
"I feel like when I need something, I can reach out, and someone will answer me," said Kennedy.
The one-on-one attention she receives has helped excel her in this role, Kennedy said during her interview, and in return has led her to be a great leader in supporting her staff so they can help our students succeed.
But aside from the support, she said the compensation and benefits have been a bonus.
"The benefits have been fabulous, especially healthcare, that is an essential one for my family, and so that's been a great benefit," she said.
