MCPASD is introducing the Radiance Award for Distinguished Alumni and opening the call for nominations!
The District intentionally chose the name of this award. A group of cardinals is called a radiance, a powerful symbol of individuals who shine brightly on their own and even more brilliantly together.
The name reflects how MCPASD alumni’s journeys carry on with the curiosity, compassion and commitment they developed as Cardinals. Alumni represent the District’s legacy for excellence in academia, athletics and the arts when they leave.
The Radiance Award is an opportunity to recognize their exceptional achievements. It honors alumni whose professional achievement, service and leadership reflect the very best of MCPASD.
The award will recognize alumni who made an impact across six categories:
Medicine and Healthcare
STEM, Education, and Research
Public Service, Government, and Military Service
Fine Arts, Entertainment, and Journalism
Entrepreneurship, Business, Agriculture, and Food Science
Humanitarianism and Philanthropy
The award will uplift alumni who demonstrate the spirit of a Cardinal’s Journey and inspire the next generation of students. MCPASD will host an annual ceremony to recognize honorees and hear first-hand about their journeys.
The award will be part of Middleton High School’s Cardinal Legacy Gallery, which will be unveiled when the first award honorees are recognized in 2027.
Nominees will be chosen by the selection committee, which includes a high school principal, staff members and students; a Board of Education member; a representative from the MCPASD Education Foundation; and representatives from the Middleton Common Council and the Village of Cross Plains Board. They’ll review nominations and select the honorees.
Visit the Radiance Award webpage to learn more and submit a nomination.
Email Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, Board and Assistant Superintendent Ericka Hanson at ehanson1@mcpasd.k12.wi.us with questions.
Finally, on a related note, all Cardinal alumni are invited to complete a quick survey to share how their stories have evolved since they "flew from the nest.”
