53 DECA members recently competed at the District 3 Career Development Conference at DeForest Area High School. Students performed role plays that resembled scenarios they would encounter if they worked in marketing. They also took an industry certified exam to test their knowledge on various business and marketing concepts. Students earned medals based on their performance and the series champions (1st through 4th place) earned a plaque. Honorable mention students earned a special medal for placing 5th, 6th, or 7th in their event.
The students competed against other schools in the area and had an impressive showing. "It's clear that going to the competition at UW Whitewater in November helped prepare them for this competition," said Hutchison.
19 students will compete at the State Career Development Conference at The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva in February.
