Adapted Sports League soccer practice

The Cardinals will play Janesville Parker in their season home opener on Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m. as the Adapted Sports League kicks off its third soccer season.

Coaches Kevin Bavery and Jess McIntosh will again lead the soccer team in the league for high school students with disabilities, which gives students of all abilities a chance to shine. McIntosh said this year’s team has 10 players, including six returning and four new players.

“As coaches, we are most excited to see the joy in these athletes and to watch them grow and find community and a sense of belonging in another part of our school community," McIntosh said. "We are excited for our returning athletes to show their growth in leadership for our new athletes, and for the new athletes to experience the fun and excitement that being a part of ASL can give students.”

McIntosh said the team is excited to play this season.

“They find nothing but excitement in being able to highlight the skills they have been working on and receiving positive feedback from the crowd and community,” McIntosh said. “They are truly there to have fun and learn what it takes to be a teammate. They also like to win!”

The Adapted Sports League expanded this year to eight schools: Middleton, DeForest, Janesville Craig, Janesville Parker, Sun Prairie East, Sun Prairie West, Verona/Mount Horeb and Waunakee.
