Two seniors from Middleton High School – Radhika Gupta and Crystal Huang – have been named semifinalists in the prestigious 2026 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. They are two of only 12 students in Wisconsin selected as semifinalists.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the nation's highest honors for high school students. It was established in 1964 to honor distinguished graduating high school seniors for exceptional academic performance, strong leadership, and significant contributions to their schools and communities.
Gupta and Huang are among 627 semifinalists nationwide, based on rigorous academic criteria and achievements, to advance to the final round. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars.
“We’re incredibly proud of Radhika and Crystal for their impressive accomplishments throughout their high school journeys, and it’s wonderful to see their achievements recognized on a national level,” said Middleton High School Principal Bobbie Reinhart. “We’ll be cheering them on and wishing them continued success as they move forward in the final round and as they begin the next chapter of their academic careers.”
Gupta plans to attend Cornell University and major in computer science or biomedical engineering. Huang plans to attend Yale University and major in philosophy and political science.
