Emmy Award-winning composer Mark Wood will host clinics for Middleton High School, Kromrey Middle School and Glacier Creek Middle School orchestra students throughout next week and perform a finale concert with students on Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m.
Wood is the founding violinist for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and he is known for his electrifying and emotionally charged scores in film and television. He has a reputation for blending classical orchestration with modern rock elements.
Nearly 500 orchestra students from both Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District middle schools and high school will work and perform with Wood. Middleton High School Orchestra Teacher Steve Kurr looks forward to partnering with Wood again.
“We are so excited to invite Mark Wood back to the Middleton Performing Arts Center; it’s his fourth time working with our students,” Kurr said. “His energy, skill and attitude inspire us all to be better musicians and people.”
In addition to working with students throughout the week, Wood will perform during Middleton High School’s Fine Arts Week, which takes place March 16-20. It’s a beloved tradition that features live band, orchestra and vocal performances from students and staff as well as art department offerings like screen printing and collaborative animation.
Tickets for Wood’s March 19 performance with the Middleton High School, Kromrey Middle School and Glacier Creek Middle School orchestras are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.mcporchestra.org/tickets. Proceeds from ticket sales help fund Wood's visit and MCPASD’s orchestra program for grades 4-12.
