Middleton Girls Swim and Dive

The Middleton High School Girls Swim & Dive team captured its third consecutive state championship title on Nov. 15. The Cardinals had a standout day at the WIAA State Meet, earning 363.5 points and finishing 147.5 points ahead of the runner-up.

The team entered the meet with strong momentum, backed by consistent performances across events and a roster filled with young talent. Their depth, teamwork, and steady leadership helped secure the three-peat, an achievement that reflects months of dedication in and out of the pool.

“Clinching the state title was a great way to cap off an amazing season. I am happy all of our athletes were able to find success this year on our team,” said Coach Andrew Cotton. “This season meant a lot to me with it being the second on the team, and first as the head coach. Winning state was amazing but I am most proud of the culture we were able to cultivate. Seeing this flourish makes me excited for next year and the seasons to follow. I am proud of this team and all we were able to accomplish.”

Coach Cyndie Zocher shared similar reflections on the group’s growth.

“It is always incredible being a part of a state championship team,” Zocher said. “This team was extra special this year because they were not only state champions but absolutely amazing young women, in and out of the pool. They are very young, incredibly talented, but also sweet, humble, kind, and all around great kids. I loved every minute of this season and I am so excited for the future!”

This year’s championship run also featured standout performances across the roster, including freshman diver Hanna Jodlowski, who was recently named WMTV 15 News Athlete of the Week after winning the Division 1 diving state title.

“It’s pretty awesome. I’ve spent a lot of time working on my dives and gaining confidence, and I feel like it’s really cool to see it pay off at state,” she told WMTV 15 News.
