cast of 12 angry jurors

Middleton High School’s one act competition piece, "12 Angry Jurors," advanced to the state theatre competition! Students will perform at UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the WISDAA State Theatre Festival.

The play follows the stories of 12 jurors contemplating the fate of a young man accused of murder. As jurors debate the man's guilt or innocence, they bring their own pasts and prejudices into the room.

Students performed the production, which explores themes of justice and social location, at Middleton High School’s Black Box Theatre in October. They also competed at district and sectional competitions to advance to the state competition.

"The process for competing at the district and sectional one act competition requires continued improvement and refining of the piece,” said Katrina Williams Brunner, who teaches English, theatre and communications at Middleton High School and directs the theatre program. “At each level, this cast and crew turned their feedback into opportunities for growth. Their approach paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of them!"

The one act piece has been led by guest director Marielle Shiring, and the set was designed by Jonathan Hagberg, director of the Performing Arts Center.
