December 2023 Monthly Update With Monogue Logo

We know that our students and staff are capable, talented, and unique individuals, but sometimes, we all need a little confidence boost. At Northside Elementary School, Library Media Specialist Laura Allord is helping students gain confidence in themselves and understand their strengths and learning styles.

Check out the video above to view the entire episode, including the interview with Laura Allord and her Kindergarten class.

We are excited to share that our district is now accepting applications for the upcoming MCPASD Board of Education election on April 2, 2024!

As a school board member, you will provide valuable insight and contributions to the success of our district and serve as a powerful advocate for our students. To learn more about the candidate process, please visit our district website or call us; we would be happy to discuss it with you!

Ready or not, winter is here! With that comes a few important reminders about our inclement weather protocols. In the event of a closure, all families will be notified by 6:15 am via text, call, and email. For more information, please review the message shared with all district families or visit the 'snow day' webpage here. Thank you for your patience as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Now that we are prepared for cold weather let's check out a few district stories that will warm your heart!

8th-grade band students at Kromrey Middle School recently surprised their friends at the Middleton Glen Retirement Community with a special winter jazz concert! A special shout-out goes to Kromrey music educators Darlayne Coughlin, Shane Raye, and Kim Reynolds for organizing this awesome event! What an awesome way to give back to our community. Also, be sure to check out Kromrey's brand new 'My School Story Marketing' video, available now on their website!

Did you know that the Middleton High School CAPS program partners with local businesses and organizations? Recently, our CAPS students collaborated with Barriques Coffee House to name and market their new coffee blend in honor of their 25th anniversary. Our community can now enjoy a tasty cup of the 'Quarter Century Coffee' blend, thanks to the help of our CAPS students!

We have talented inventors in our midst!

Congratulations to the Glacier Creek Middle School Academic and Career Planning students who recently competed in the GCMS Shark Tank trade show! The students presented over 30 different businesses and showcased their knowledge about starting a business, creating a product, marketing, advertising, and selling their products! Great job to all! We hope to see your awesome inventions on shopping shelves soon!

Our friends at Sauk Trail Elementary got up close and 'musical' experience with Madison Symphony volunteers! They generously donated their time to visit all kindergarten through third-grade classrooms to lead mini-music lessons! At the end of each visit, the students participate in a mini-concert in the school gym. We are excited to welcome our Madison Symphony friends back to Sauk Trail and Northside Elementary later this spring!

Our district takes great pride in providing numerous opportunities for our students. We are excited to announce that applications for the 2024-25 school year are now open at Clark Street Community School. This outstanding school is dedicated to fostering an engaged learner community, equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. Its learner-centered, competency-based model has earned national recognition, empowering students to actively participate in their education and pave their path toward a successful future. To discover more about Clark Street's model, be sure to attend their upcoming information sessions, which you can sign up for on the Clark Street website.

Lastly, we are excited to share that our friends at Park Elementary recently celebrated Mr. Peanuts' 84th birthday! They wore flannel in honor of him and celebrated by sharing handmade birthday cards, stories, and, of course, lots of laughs.

Have a great winter break, everyone!
