English Teacher Adrianna Sanders was named the 2021 Eisinger Teacher of the Year.

Sanders was announced as the award winner at an awards ceremony Thursday at Miller Performing Arts Center, where Capital City High School lead math teacher Alex Miriani was also announced as the 2021 Eisinger Outstanding Educator.

Sanders and Miriani were two of six finalists for the award named after and sponsored by former JC Schools teacher and Missouri Teacher of the Year Linda Eisinger. Linda Eisinger and her husband, Don, established the Eisinger Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Educator awards in 2015 with plans to support the awards for 15 years.

The ceremony, hosted by the Jefferson City School District and JC Schools Foundation, recognized and celebrated the 2021 Eisinger Life Changing Educators, Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Educator and the six finalists.

Sanders was nominated by her former student, Klara Stiffler, who said she nominated her for her kindness, her effectiveness as a teacher, her passion for her job — and most importantly, the difference she makes in each of her students' lives.
