Doc Cramer’s Future Humorous Teacher Scholarship
Doc Cramer's family is establishing a new scholarship: The Doc Cramer Humorous Teacher Scholarship. More information will be added as it becomes available:
For now here is his obituary that he wrote:
Much to my surprise, I died on August 15th, 2024 in Waynesville, Ohio, home town of my pioneer ancestors from the 1800’s. This was not my plan, but I did not always get my way while alive. On Easter Sunday in 1952 (April 13), Frances (nee Cook) and Ross Cramer added to their family of Kathy (then 7) and Scott (nearly 4) by introducing the highlight of their lives: me. While officially Gregg, I was called Skip until tenth grade, when I became “Doc.”
Midvale, Cherokee, and West High Schools tried everything to educate me, but failed miserably; they did, however unknowingly, encourage me to go into education.
Teaching high school English and coaching football (and some track) at Middleton High School for 33 years, I met many wonderful students and staff who should by now have had adequate opportunities to get therapy to recover from the experience.
My high school sweetheart Nancy Johnson and I tried hard to raise our three children, Kelly, Casey, and Clancy properly. If they turned out okay, it’s because of Nancy’s influence (not mine). Their spouses Adam Schoultz, Kelsey Francis and Katie Hollar rounded out our family. My hope is that they can successfully raise our grandchildren Tony and John Schoultz, and Caleb, Christopher, Karis, Katherine, and Callum Cramer, along with our grand dogs/cats Gaius, Daisy and Hunter.
I bowled inconsistently and enjoyed trying to play golf; I also supported the Packer, Brewers, and Badgers. If those teams struggle in the near future, it’s because they lost a loyal fan. I also terrorized Old Man Coffee, meeting with friends at Barrique’s and in Brian’s garage. They are most likely relieved by my passing. Others to whom I owed money might truly miss me. Have an average day.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please send funds to the “Doc Cramer Memorial Scholarship,” MCPASD Education Foundation:
6907 University Avenue,#243, Middleton, WI 53562
The scholarship was set up to honor of Doc’s love of education and athletics. https://www.mcpasd.k12.wi.us/o/edfound/page/donate
“We’re all in this together,” and he was loved by many. Rest in Peace Good Man
