Congratulations to student services

We are thrilled to announce that the MCPASD Student Services Department has been awarded two grants totaling $380,000 this school year! These grants will support various initiatives aimed at improving student well-being and academic success.

The largest grant, a federal grant, as part of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) Stronger Connections program, of $350,000, will be used to bolster efforts in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). SEL plays a crucial role in helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in school and life. This funding will enable our District to expand our SEL programs and provide additional resources to support our students' social and emotional needs.

Social Emotional Learning & Mental Health Coordinator, Melanie Hill, led the effort by submitting a comprehensive grant application. This grant not only benefits MCPASD students, families, and staff but also extends its reach to include several private schools within the Middleton community, as they were part of the grant application.

Additionally, Student Services received a $30,000 grant for the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. This grant will allow us to enhance our support services for students experiencing homelessness, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to excel academically. School Social Worker Amy Poole secured the EHCY grant this past fall.

Congratulations to Melanie Hill, Amy Poole, and the entire MCPASD Student Services Department for their outstanding work in securing this funding.

"We are thrilled to have been awarded these grants, as they will greatly enhance the services we are able to provide to our students," said Director of Student Services Chris Mand. "These grants will allow us to further our commitment to supporting the whole child and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed."

MCPASD is committed to providing a supportive and enriching educational experience for all students, and these grants will play a vital role in achieving that goal. We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of our students!
