Volunteer Opportunities
If you know of an organization or specific event that is in need of volunteers, please Email Kris Kuhlmann.

Leadership Intern Role Description
The Leadership Intern (LI) opportunity is ideal for high school and college-age students seeking to build leadership skills
through hands-on, practical experience working with students. This opportunity introduces entrepreneurial and
intellectual property concepts, builds confidence, strengthens college applications, and provides an opportunity to earn
volunteer service hours.
Leadership Interns are vital to the Camp Invention program and participant experience. They help create an environment
of fun, learn strategies to encourage collaborative learning, serve as role models to participants and middle school
Leaders-in-Training (LITs), and assist in providing a safe environment for participants. A dedicated and enthusiastic LI can
make a lasting impression on a Camper's experience.

WayForward Resources (formerly Middleton Outreach Ministry) provides access to nutritious food for people throughout Dane County and support that helps people stay in their homes in Middleton, Cross Plains and west Madison. Their mission is to bring our community together to create food and housing security through action and advocacy.
There are multiple ways to get involved in supporting their mission:
Volunteer: Learn more about one-time and ongoing opportunities here.
Organize a food or clothing drive: Get started here. See their list of most-needed items on their website.
Give to support their food and housing programs: Donate here.

The Madison Reading Project needs your help to Get Books, Give Books & Get Involved
These are the facts - 2/3 of children from low-income households have no books at home, yet books in the home are the single biggest indicator of academic success.
Children should feel seen - We believe wholeheartedly in the importance of children having access to books that reflect their unique identities and open their eyes to other people's lived experiences.
It takes a community! We connect families, educators, and our community with free books and literacy resources that ignite a love for reading and affirm and reflect the diversity of young readers.
Youth and Family Volunteer Opportunities
We believe engaging children, youth, and families in supporting the MRP mission helps create a stronger community.
Youth - Individual youth 14 years of age or older are welcome to help out at our Book Center. Youth volunteers must have their own transportation to and from the Book Center as well as parent/guardian consent. Please email us for more information on how to get started.
Families - Families with children 6 years of age or older are welcome to assist in the Book Center. Please email us to set up a time and date that works for your family.
Just Between Friends:
Just Between Friends is an amazing children & maternity consignment sale which occurs twice a year and helps hundreds of families in our communities! It allows families to sell their gently loved children’s items, offers the community to shop 50-90% off retail prices, and at the end of the sale, we give back to the community by donating items to local charity partners! You can learn more about us by visiting our website (www.danecounty.jbfsale.com) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JBFDCWest). This sale has been part of our community for 12 years.
We are in need of a group to help with sorting items back to our consignors at the end of the sale. It is a 5-hour commitment and would entail organizing items using the alphabet. The helpers can use our rolling carts to move around the floor, but some small lifting (of totes/boxes) may be needed. We encourage everyone to wear comfortable shoes and bring some water!
We are looking for help on Sunday, November 21 from 2:30-7:30 pm. Our sale will be at the former Gordmans store at East Towne Mall. Students must be over 13 years old. If under 16 years old, we ask at least 2 adults to attend with your group of students. We would ask all helpers to sign in to track attendance. If you have adults wishing to donate their time, they are also more than welcome to.

Middleton Public Library
Regular volunteering throughout school year- helping with programs, special projects, pulling/shelving books, cleaning. We have a cutoff of 40 hours to help teens meet their Service Hours Requirement so that we can give as many opportunities as possible.
Summer Reading Program- our SRP is staffed completely by teen volunteers. They're in charge of signing up participants, handing out prizes, and helping out with special programs. We'll start taking applications for SRP volunteers in the spring.
Middleton Recycling Center
The Recycling Center is where city residents can drop off items such as metals, cardboard, block styrofoam, books, batteries, electronics, and many other items, so they can be recycled instead of being disposed of in a landfill. We have a need for help to sort items such as books and batteries and other tasks. Middleton Recycling Center is located next to the Municipal Operations Center on Parmenter Street in Middleton. The recycling center is open Saturdays 8am to noon. For now, Saturdays is the best time for HS kids to be at the recycling center since they’ll also get to see it in operation and hopefully learn about waste and recycling.
