WM PTO Minutes

March 15

pdf version of minutes

I. PTO News–

* Winter Carnival Wrap-up – The Carnival committee received good feed
back for the carnival this year. There was good flow and part of it was
due to not having the auction of classroom baskets. It was suggested to
try and have a smaller fundraiser of some kind at future carnivals. The
carnival raised $2064.00.

* Bowl-A-Rama – 61 spots are already reserved for the event. Corporate
sponsors and the donations are coming in.

* Box Top contest – Close to 16,000 box tops were sent in! There will be
another contest in May.

* Teacher Appreciation Week – We need someone to put together some
games or an activity for Tuesday and Thursday. The breakfast,
Wednesday Lunch hosted by Kindergarten and Friday Chili’s dinner are in
the planning process.

II. Future PTO Proposals -

*Art Gallery – Ms. Hyland has agreed to work with the committee in the
fall for the tie-dyed t-shirt project. The art gallery will be shifted from
the Library to the hall for more exposure. Instead of permant works of
art, the gallery will rotate the artwork to give more children a chance to
have a piece on display. We need to get the district approval to repaint
the wall.

*Logo Contest – Candice Nielsen presented 3 WM logo designs, which
incorporated a mascot. The possible logos will be presented to the
students and they will vote for their favorite. We need someone to
coordinate the voting process. It was suggested we could somehow have
the voting be done on the smart boards so the kids can see the results
immediately. Jenni Vondrak will send an e-mail to the teachers. The
voting could take place this spring.

III. Treasurers Report – Marlee Carlson–

* Marlee reported we currently have $3000.00 in the account. This will
be enough to cover expenses through the end of the school year.

IV. Closing and Guest Speaker – Superintendent Don Johnson.
