West Middleton Carnival Team 

The WM PTO organizes, plans, and executes the school carnival. The carnival is
the biggest event the PTO hosts every year and it wouldn’t be successful without the dedication of
our families from West Middleton. We have many opportunities for parents to be involved throughout
the process of this event. All families are encouraged to donate a half hour of their time to help
with the carnival, this can be done at home by preparing food or organizing prizes before the event
or volunteer your time during the carnival by running a game, helping with prizes, or handing out
snacks. The volunteer opportunities are endless!

The carnival is held on a Saturday afternoon in late February or early March. Each year the
carnival is filled with old and new attractions, snacks, and plenty of fun! As the children enjoy
partaking in the carnival games, there is also face painting, live entertainment, art classes, and
so much more to enjoy with the family.

The past couple of years, the PTO has incorporated a book drive prior to the carnival. The books
that are donated are used as prizes for the children. Tickets won at the games can also be used for
snacks, small prizes such as pencils, stickers, tattoos, etc.

During the carnival the WM PTO also hosts the very popular school auction. Classroom themed baskets
are put up for bid in a silent auction. Baskets are combined with classroom donations and items
donated by local businesses. Themes include sports, pet, camping, beach, grilling, etc. The most
popular items up for bid during the auction are the classroom art projects. Each classroom is
represented on one piece of artwork that they each contribute to – a few examples are a piggy bank,
canvas collage, chair, etc.

The WM PTO is looking for a team to start planning the carnival. There are many areas to get
involved - we have four committee choices: games & prizes, food, books or the school auction.
