School Climate Program
At Sunset Ridge we expect a school environment where all people feel respected, safe, supported, and connected to others. We don't accept actions or words that affect others in a negative manner.
Our school will maintain an environment where learning can take place with positive relationships, high expectations, cooperation, and a sense of belonging. A basic assumption is that everyone can and will be successful in both academics and social relationships.
To achieve this:
- All staff will get to know all of the students in their respective areas and the students will know their peers well.
- All staff will show genuine interest and caring in the well-being of all students and treat them with fairness and respect in order to establish an effective student-teacher relationship.
- Expectations, routines, school and classroom rules will be established that support a positive school environment.
- Consistent follow-up and enforcement of school and class rules for all students shall be of great importance.
- All areas and periods of the school day need to be organized for success, including the more "loosely structured" periods to help kids be at their best.
We understand that this program will be most successful when it is embraced by the entire school community, with students, staff and families working together as a team.
