eLit (Educators and Librarians Integrating Technology)

A common problem experienced by students, parents and the community is the disconnect between many scattered sources of information. With help from a TEACH Wisconsin grant, the Middleton-Cross Plains and Oregon School Districts and their respective public libraries are addressing this problem through the eLit web site.

The eLit web site features homework help links for students; an annotated list of research information sites for students, parents and the community; a section with tips for conducting online research; and links to community resources including links to the teacher home pages from both districts. In addition, the eLit web site provides a link to the IDEAS web site. The IDEAS web site provides Wisconsin educators access to teacher-reviewed web-based resources for curricula content lesson plans aligned with the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards and other selected resources.

The eLit web site also features a link to the BadgerLink reference site, which provides a directory of links to library, education, government and general reference sites. Through BadgerLink the user can access articles from thousands of newspaper and periodical titles, image files, and other reference materials. BadgerLink also connects users to WISCAT, the online catalog of Wisconsin library holdings. For students, parents and the community links to Career and College Resources; including links to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Madison online Classified Ads, ACT and College Board college exams and the Wisconsin Technical College System are also included.
