Nonviolent Crisis Intervention

- Learn the four stages of crisis development: student behavior and staff intervention
- Non-verbal communication...what it says and how it effects the behavior of others
- Para-verbal communication...the critical impact of how you say something
- Techniques for de-escalating verbally disruptive individuals before they become assaultive
- Strategies for maintaining personal control
- Basic principles in personal safety
- Successful resolution to a crisis situation
- Strategies for a post crisis conference

This course meets the DPI conflict resolution requirement. Participants should wear comfortable, loose clothing and tennis shoes.

Credit: 1 Graduate Credit or 12 MCPASD PD Hours
