MHS music students recognized

Twenty-one MHS music students have been selected for one of the honors ensembles after auditioning in the Wisconsin School Music Association Honors Music Project on Feb. 21.

Five more MHS music students were chosen as alternates.

Students selected for the WSMA State Honors Music Project participate in a 3-½ day summer camp in June and perform in Madison during late October as part of the Wisconsin State Music Conference. The WSMA State Honors Music Project is nationally recognized as one of the finest musical opportunities for young people.

The following students were recognized:

Orchestra: Mia Chapman, violin; Meghna Datta, violin; Kian Djamali, trumpet; Calvin Guse, viola; Mary Hsu, violin; Ben Peterson, trumpet; Maureen Sheehan, viola; Balaji Veeramani, violin (alternate).

Band: Bryson Bauer, trombone; Haiwen Dai, percussion; Ben Foster, alto sax (alternate); Sam Jaeger, percussion; Hanna Noughani, oboe; Sophia Patton, clarinet; Jack Tibbetts, percussion; Anton Tung, percussion.

Band-Orchestra: Grace Madigan, flute (alternate); Abby Mangas, flute (alternate).

Jazz Ensemble: Max Newcomer, tenor sax; Alex Warholic, percussion.

Treble Choir: Allison Richards, soprano; Ruth Thompson, soprano.

Mixed choir: Elizabeth Engle, soprano; Julian Engle, tenor (alternate); Leta Landucci, violin (Orchestra); Leo Rossmiller, tenor.
