The MHS girls lacrosse team received lots of national recognition last week.

Anne Gravel was named the Wisconsin Coach of the Year by U.S. Lacrosse, while junior Eleanor Mackey was named Wisconsin Co-Player of the Year and was also an All-American.

In addition, Mackey and senior Abby Drake were named to the All-Academic Team as MHS was awarded two of the four slots the state receives. Players must have a grade-point average of at least 3.7 to be considered.

Drake also received the U.S. Lacrosse Jackie Pitts Award, which is given to one senior per state who has made the greatest overall contribution to the sport in her four years playing varsity lacrosse.

The awards were announced at the Wisconsin Lacrosse state championships on June 9 at Carroll University in Waukesha.
