The purpose of LMC club is to sponsor activities to promote literacy through the use of LMC print and online resources in a fun and engaging way usually by offering themed contests and displays. Most activities involve an incentive for student participation such as small prizes. Activities include a Weekly Research Question Contest in which the winner receives a gift card to Barnes & Noble, Teen Read Week when students "read for the fun of it." National Library Week is held each spring when the LMC polls students about their favorite books and invites the students to spend time reading in the LMC while enjoying milk and cookies. Other activities included poetry contests, snowflake and valentine design contests, cooking and origami demonstrations, speakers and trips to area libraries, book and magna clubs, student blogs, or other activities suggested by students.
