This club is open to all students even though most members are also taking German, French, or Spanish courses or they are Foreign Exchange students attending Middleton High School. This is a student-driven club in which the students decide what activities will occur each year. The officers are elected and conduct monthly business meetings to plan club events. Members meet once or twice a month to participate in activities aimed at creating a sense of community that transcends cultural differences. Students interact on a personal level by joining together to celebrate and experience a variety of cultures. Some activities are paid by the club and some by each student involved. An annual Picnic is held in the fall. A yearly trip is planned to the Milwaukee Folk Fair in November. A winter party typically includes a treasure hunt in three languages. Members watch cultural/foreign movies, eat at authentic ethnic restaurants, and participate in cultural activities at UW-Madison. They also celebrate cultural events such as Mardi Gras, Cinco De Mayo, and others. They raise money by conducting fundraisers such as selling flowers for Valentine’s Day. There are many other activities not mentioned here.
