The organization was formed in the Spring of 1996 to help raise awareness about homophobia and to educate both faculty and students about the importance of creating a harassment-free environment for all students.  The Alliance connects students to others who are affected by homophobia and transphobia as well as providing education in the schools to create a safe and supportive environment for LGBT teens and their families.  Confidentiality is essential for some of the group members.  This group meets three weeks out of the month on Thursday morning, at 7:20 AM, and one week out of the month for one hour during the school day.
