Members of the MHS choral department will be performing at Concerts on the Square with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra on Wednesday, Aug. 2.

The orchestra and choir will be under the direction of Maestro Andrew Sewell. If the event is postponed due to inclement weather, the makeup date is Aug. 3.

"It's an honor to be asked to perform with Maestro Sewell and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at such a wonderful event,'' MHS choir director Justin Wilder said.  "Concerts on the Square is a unique tradition to the Madison area and there are few events like it in the United States.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our students to perform with a nationally recognized orchestra at one of our countries most beautiful landmarks. The MHS choral department is grateful to Maestro Sewell for inviting us to be a part of this wonderful tradition."

The concert will feature music by Dvorak, Jenkins, and Mozart. The concert will conclude with Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

Concerts on the Square take place every Wednesday evening between June 28 and Aug. 2.  Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are free. Each concert attracts approximately 40,000 spectators.  For more information, please visit the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra website.
