Homecoming parade wants entries
The annual Homecoming parade is set for Friday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. but with a new twist.
In order to increase participation in the parade this year, MHS is encouraging schools, organizations or parent groups to submit an entry in the parade, MHS guidance counselor Marcy Smith said.
"We are more than happy to help in any way possible if this is something that you are interested in,'' she said.
The float judges will be at the end of the parade route. Entries are allowed a 1-minute routine in front of the judges. Any entries that go over the time limit will be disqualified.
Three floats will win prizes. The categories are:
Best Homecoming Theme (win $150): Judged on Magical Middleton Homecoming Theme. How well did your group
hit the theme in your design, dress & performance?
Best Performance (win $100): Judged on your performance to the cameras at the judges’ table. Do a dance or cheer! Think out of the box and wow the judges!
Most Creative (win $50): Judged on how different your group is. Make the crowed say “BRAVO!”
MHS will pay for transportation for any schools or individual classes that wish to attend the parade. Smith said students will be back before the end of the school day.
The parade route is also available.
The Homecoming parade will also be covered by the MHS Media Club and rebroadcast on the YouTube Education Channel Cable Ch. 96/988.
