Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam (WKCE)
All 4th, 8th, and 10th graders in the state of Wisconsin are directed to complete the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts test during November. These tests help determine course placement.
At Middleton High School 512 sophomore students will partake in approximately eight hours of testing. Tentatively (pending MEA Vote), the test will be administered over the course of two days: Thursday, November 4th and Thursday, November 11th, 2010. On November 4th, Sophomores will be tested from 8:05am until 9:30am. During that time Freshman will be in their Advisory classes and Juniors and Seniors will be involved in a variety of college fair, educational and career activities. At 9:35am students will begin an eight period day (40 minute periods). Attendance is mandatory for all grade levels. All student will be released at 3:25pm.
To provide a quiet, testing environment only
sophomore students will attend Middleton High School from 8:05 am until 3:25
pm on Thursday, November 11, 2010. There will be a fifty (50) minute closed campus lunch scheduled from 11:15 am through 12:05 pm. Freshmen, Juniors, and Seniors are asked not to attend school on that day (or visit any other school). It is imperative that sophomores attend school on Thursday, November 11th, 2010.
Middleton High School is required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to test all sophomore students. Any sophomore student missing the test day will be called out of regularly scheduled classes to complete the test. Middleton High School appreciates the cooperation of the parents and students of the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District in providing a better testing environment. Questions can be directed to Jill Gurtner, Associate Principal, 829-9641 or by e-mail at jgurtner@mcpasd.k12.wi.us.
› Sophomores will need: Number 2 pencils, scientific calculators, homework or reading material to utilize time when individual tests have been completed.
› Students not in school should refrain from visiting other Middleton-Cross Plains middle or elementary schools.
For more information on the WKCE test, go to the Department of Public Instruction web site.
