Common Application - The Common Application is the recommended form of more than 275 selective, independent colleges and universities for admission to their undergraduate programs. Many of these institutions use the form exclusively. All give equal consideration to the Common Application and the college's own form.

Financial Aid for College

FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid - Completing the FAFSA is the first step in the college financial aid process. This is a required form for any student seeking federal aid. Complete the FAFSA online at this site.

Government Student Aid - This U.S. Department of Education web site discusses funding a college education and includes information on student grants and loans.

CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE - PROFILE is the financial aid application service of the College Board -- a national, 100-year-old, not-for-profit membership association. Many of the member colleges, universities, graduate and professional schools, and scholarship programs use the information collected on PROFILE to help them award nonfederal student aid funds.

What is the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) - The Expected Family Contribution is a calculated assessment of how much your family will be expected to contribute to your college costs. The College Board web site explains the EFC and has an EFC calculator to help you estimate your expected family contribution.

Athletics

NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse - Students planning on playing sports at the college level must register with the NCAA to speak with coaches and recruiters. Students may register online at the web site listed above. Students should register at the beginning of their senior year.

NAIA - National Assocation of Intercollegiate Athletics. Guide designed for the college-bound athlete.

Military Information

Selective Service Registration - If you are an 18-year-old male, you must register with the Selective Service. This site allows you to register online.
